How you can support M.E.B.C.

As a non-profit, charitable organisation, MEBC depends on your help in order to deliver its programs and services. You can help MEBC in many different ways, and the most important - and rewarding - is to get involved!

Membership

Becoming a member of MEBC is your opportunity to become part of the solution to the problems faced by ME and FM patients in British Columbia. Your membership also helps guide our organisation in making choices about where our efforts should focus and how we can best meet your needs. Membership is open to anyone who has, is related to, cares for, or is medically treating someone with ME, FM or EI/MCS, or who may work with these patients in any professional capacity.

Membership application forms are included in each edition of MEBC's newsletter 'ME & You'. All information is held in confidence, unless the member wishes to connect with others who may be interested in exchanging information. Membership is $20 per year from the date we receive the cheque and includes 4 issues of the newsletter and free access to MEBC's support network. Note: If the fee is a financial hardship, please contact MEBC.

Donations & Sponsorship

MEBC could not operate without the generous support of our donors and sponsors. We value your contributions, large or small, not only for what they allow us to do but also for your vote of confidence that we can improve the lives and well-being of the ME community in British Columbia.

MEBC is a registered Canadian charity, and a non-profit society of the province of British Columbia. Tax receipts are issued for donations of $25 or more and are made out to the name on the cheque. MEBC's charitable status tax number is (BN) 13117 3239 RR001.

For information about becoming a corporate sponsor, please contact us.

Payment Methods

Send cheques or money orders, made payable to MEBC, to the address below. Please do not send cash by mail. Donations may also be made via the United Way if MEBC is specified as the desired recipient. The United Way may offer some convenient options such as payroll deduction. You may also make your donation on-line using your credit card. MEBC is registered with Charity.ca, a Canadian portal site for charitable donations.

Wish List

The Wish List is where we identify what things could make MEBC's work easier, faster, or more effective, in the hope that something no longer useful to you could become part of our success. Our most valuable resource is people, but here are some of the things our people would like to be using.

  • Office space
  • Computers
  • Printer and supplies, scanner
  • Desk, chair
  • File cabinet
  • Photocopier
  • Paper, envelopes, office supplies
  • Bookcases and library materials

Please note that many in-kind donations will be eligible for a tax receipt made out for the current value of the item. Donations of services are not eligible for tax receipts, but may receive recognition through our sponsorship program.

Additional Information

MEBC needs more volunteers. Not sure how you can help? Don't worry, just let us know what your experience, skills, and interests are and we will offer suggestions about some of the many ways you could assist MEBC. In particular we are currently seeking help with education projects, updating the doctor/lawyer list, media representation, fundraising, support group coordinator for teens, disability resource advocacy and bookkeeping.
