CCDP appoints new Medical Director!


We are so excited to share news of the long-awaited appointment of the new Medical Director of BC Women's Hospital's Complex Chronic Diseases Program (CCDP), Dr.Luis Nacul!

Dr. Nacul is a doctor and general practitioner, with training across medicine, epidemiology and public health. He was Clinical Associate Professor and researcher at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine in London, United Kingdom, and led the CureMEteam and the UK ME/CFS Biobank, and will continue to be fully committed to the work of CureME. He will also continue his membership of the NICE Guideline Development Committee. Dr. Nacul was one of 96 ME Expert signatories to the 2018 open letter to the medical journal, The Lancet, calling for the PACE trial data to be independently re-analysed.

Congratulations to BC Children's and Women's Hospital for attracting an internationally renowned clinical researcher such as Dr. Nacul! This appointment gives us hope that ME and fibromyalgia patients throughout British Columbia will finally receive proper care and treatment, and that BC and Canada will make a significant contribution to international ME and fibromyalgia research.

We look forward to meeting Dr. Nacul to discuss the model of care, how to address patients' urgent unmet health care needs, and his future research goals.
