Here's the video of our expert panel discussion
Video of the live streamed panel on Disability Insurance and Disability Assistance for ME and FM patients, taped at our event on Sunday, September 17, 2017 at the Chan Education Centre & Auditorium at the BC Children's Hospital, is now up on our YouTube channel.
The Canadian Community Health Survey consistently reports that Canadians with ME and FM have the highest rates of poverty among people with chronic health conditions. Unable to work full-time, or even part-time, most depend on government or private insurance for disability assistance. Applying for either is usually extremely challenging for patients due to stigma and misinformation.
The panel discussed issues around Disability Insurance and Income for ME and FM patients. Our experts:
Sam Turcott, Director, Advocacy Access Program for Disability Alliance BC (DABC) - @ 06:54
Angela McCue, a patient, solicitor and barrister with experience in insurance and public interest law - @ 1:01:02
Sherri Todd, BC director for National ME/FM Action Network and long-time patient advocate (no presentation)
Q&A : @ 1:33:47
Questions were accepted from the in person and live stream audience.
