A Randomized Placebo control trial led by Dr. Luis Nacul at BC Women’s Hospital is seeking participants with Long-COVID. The trial is looking for patients with profound and persistent fatigue along with other symptoms (brain fog, sleep problems, etc.). The purpose of the trial is to investigate the use of low-dose naltrexone (LDN) as a possible treatment for post-COVID-19 fatigue syndrome (PCFS), and determine if LDN reduces fatigue and pain, and improves symptoms associated with PCFS. The trial is called A Double Blind Randomized Trial of Low-Dose Naltrexone for Post-COVID Fatigue Syndrome (LDN Trial).
The study will take place over 16 weeks and the main study tasks will involve the following:
Taking LDN or a placebo (an inactive substance) for 16 weeks
Virtual or in-person study visits and check-ins with the study team
Completion of questionnaires
Wearing a pedometer (step counter) for one week, twice during the trial period
Collecting blood samples
Interested individuals may be eligible for participation if they:
Are between the ages 19 to 69 years old
Are a resident of British Columbia, Canada
