New Resource: Clinician Education and Training Now Available

Updated: 7 days ago

Access to knowledgeable, well-informed healthcare providers remains one of the biggest challenges facing people living with ME/CFS, Long COVID and Fibromyalgia. Our own survey data backs this up starkly: most patients report that healthcare workers have little, outdated, or incorrect knowledge of these conditions, and "more knowledgeable providers" is patients' top priority for better care. On the clinician side, past BC surveys have found that most physicians feel only moderately confident, or not confident at all, in diagnosing and treating ME.

To help close that gap, the ME|FM Society of BC has launched a new page on our website: Clinician Education and Training, found under "For Healthcare Providers."

What's on the page

The page brings together free, evidence-informed continuing education resources for clinicians caring for patients with ME, Long COVID, fibromyalgia and related conditions:

The page also includes resources to help clinicians support patients navigating disability benefits, tax credits and insurance claims, an area patients have consistently flagged as difficult to get help with.

Why this matters

Every one of these resources is free and accessible, so there's no barrier to a provider learning more today. Our data shows a strong link between provider knowledge and positive patient experiences: most patients who reported a good healthcare experience pointed to a knowledgeable practitioner as the main reason why.

How you can help

If you have a healthcare provider, please share this page with them. It only takes a moment to send the link, and it could meaningfully change how they approach your care and the care of future patients.
